Why we built GamifiedDeals
A founder note on indie retail, attention economics, and why we believe small shops should win.
The problem we saw
Walk into any indie coffee shop. Behind the counter: a stack of paper punch cards, half full, half lost. On the customer's phone: 47 brand apps, all asking for storage permissions, all dead.
The attention market got won by venture-backed apps that don't sell coffee. The places that actually make a neighborhood neighborly lost the digital fight.
What we're trying to do
Give indie merchants the exact same mechanics — streaks, daily check-ins, sharable wins, cross-network status — that turned Duolingo and TikTok into household names. Without the engineering team.
The unfair advantages
- One install. A shopper joins once, and their XP travels to every shop in our network.
- One dashboard. A merchant launches in 3 clicks. No SDK, no devs, no contract.
- One philosophy. We don't sell ads. We don't sell data. We charge merchants directly. Players play free.
The bet
If we make indie retail fun again, customers will choose neighborhoods over apps. That's a future worth building.
